Excerpt from p. 17:

An excerpt from my memoir-in-progress, The Body Is A Storehouse (title-in-progress):

“Eventually, the question becomes: what do we do when we realize that it’s all gone wrong and we’re angry but we don’t want to be angry anymore? The body can’t forget, no, but I think it has something to do with forgiveness. Not the pious kind of forgiveness that seeks to continually remind the forgiven that they’ve been exonerated, while recounting the hurt over and over and over again; rather, the genuine forgiveness that seeks peace and restoration and, perhaps, extends a love and compassion that lies buried beneath piety’s choking heaviness.”
